Building Fun
March 25, 2009
We’ve always been excited about being a home builder. There’s something about knowing you’re creating a place where people are going to be celebrating Thanksgiving dinners and Christmas mornings that’s gratifying. It’s also a responsibility.
At Carbon River Homes, we really try to anticipate how our homes will work once real people are using them. It’s not unusual for the superintendent and the designer to stand in front of a linen closet and ask, “So, you’re arms are full of laundry and you’ve got to open this door. Which way should it swing?” No kidding. It’s this kind of purposeful attention to detail that we believe sets Carbon River Homes apart from our competition.
Sometimes we get it wrong. We kick ourselves and vow never to do that again (whatever it was). You could say we’re continually upgrading ourselves. All with the determined intent to build the best possible home we can. One where a new homeowner doesn’t even think about how well everything works. It just does.
Real Help From The Government. Who Knew?
March 24, 2009
Unlike most government programs, two new websites designed to help current homeowners experiencing difficulty making their mortgage payments and new buyers considering entering the world of homeownership are both easy and informative.
If you’re having a tough time making your current mortgage payment, go to www.makinghomeaffordable.gov. It’s an easy program to navigate and will tell you almost immediately whether or not your loan is owned by Sallie Mae or Freddie Mac (which may make you eligible for a lower interest rate/house payment). You don’t have to dig out your loan number or any other documentation to do it, either. You simply have to know your home address.
If you have questions about the $8000 credit for first time homebuyers (“first time” means you haven’t owned a home in the last three years), go to www.federalhousingtaxcredit.com. It, too, is an easy site to understand. The dates to pay close attention to: Jan 1, 2009 and December 1, 2009. You have to have purchased a home within this timeframe to be eligible for the credit. There are income limitations, too.
Don’t put off doing something because you’re afraid it’ll be too difficult or it’ll make you face something you didn’t want to deal with. Worst case? You click out of the site and you’re back to where you started. No harm, no foul.
When to buy a home
March 23, 2009
That’s like asking when to have a baby. Sometimes you plan, sometimes you don’t. But in retrospect, the timing always seemed to be good, didn’t it? If you’re thinking of buying a home, now might be the right time. The stock market is up, interest rates are down, and there are some pretty incredible homes waiting for someone like you.
